A New Dessert Trend?

Lately, as I have been pinning new desserts onto my dessertboard on Pinterest, I noticed that more and more blogs that I get my recipes from are basing thier desserts off of another dessert: Churros!
Churros are also known as Fritters. They are basically fried sticks of sweet dough, and usually have cinnamon sugar sprinkled over them! You usually dip them in a cup of extremely think, rich, melted to magnificence chocolate. How do I know this? I have lived in Madrid, and churros are an authentic Spanish cuisine. My housekeeper would take me and my sister down the block to the restaurant Nebraska. It's an ironic name for a restaurant because none of the food they serve at that restaurant is American, let alone Nebraskan. Churros [con chocolate] were a part of my childhood!

Now, back to dessert trends. More & more blogs are noticing how awesome of a dish this is and they are combining it with other desserts, like cheesecake (keeping scrolling down my blog until you see that recipe if you now want to cook a churro cheesecake)!
I have observed that it is common for desserts to take on trends and have desserts be combined with what dessert [flavor] is in.
Before churros became a trend, cake batter was a huge trend!

The cake batter cupcakes is the most common combination of cake batter with some other dessert.
And before, that red velvet!

In case you didn't know by now, red velvet is actually chocolate that is food colored red. The reason most people don't realize this is because the distinct shade of red makes the people think that red velvet is it's own flavor, even though it's flavor is of none other but the majority's favorite-chocolate!
What do you think? Are churros going to take off? Do you know of any other dessert trends that are just waiting to happen? If so, comment and tell me!
Bon Appétit!
